Construction updates

What are the works for?

We’re installing high-capacity underground pipework across Enfield to form a heating super-highway. This pipework will form part of Energetik’s borough-wide heat network, which will in future supply heating and hot water from the near zero-carbon Energy Centre at Edmonton EcoPark to homes, businesses, schools, and community and council buildings across the borough. The project will help reduce carbon emissions and support Enfield’s ambition to become a net-zero borough.

How will the works be delivered?

Whilst we appreciate that any road disruption can cause inconvenience, we have designed the route to minimise disruption, including maintaining existing bus routes, adequate access for all local residents, and for the majority of the route, we will maintain a two way traffic flow as normal. The works will be delivered in short 50m-100m sections, which will result in some parking bays being suspended as the works move along Hertford Road. The work areas will be segregated by suitable fencing to ensure a safe working area for the work force and provide a safe route for the public at all times.

We have notified the local community living in the immediate area by way of letter to all properties along the length of the streets affected and into adjoining streets. For those outside of this local delivery area, the advanced warning notices, have been put up to advise those passing through. For information on each section, please see more information below, and on the Enfield Council’s website: https://www.enfield.gov.uk/services/roads-and-transport/road-works.
